Using
the PowerPoint: |
The
PowerPoint presentation on ‘A journey to Venus’
When you have finished with the first slide, click
the mouse for the next slide and then leave, it
will continue on its own until the first information
page (after the space probe has crashed). Then click
for the next page until ‘The Greenhouse Effect –
a quick recap’. This slide is timed. When the last
bullet point appears, click for the next slide which
once again is timed, needing no teacher computer
input.

suggested answers to appear on the screen

is to introduce the main activity of suit
design – give students prompts of what type
of information could be placed in the boxed
categories. |

It is hoped
that students will annotate and add illustrations
to the template to aid their suit design. This could
be in the form of a class judged competition (giving
extra time to ‘finish off’ as a homework task) or
teacher assessment. Classes with access to ICT could
use the final slide as a template and use this to
present their suit design. |
|
Note the point made on
the lesson plan – students who use several materials
and think more about cost and effective use should
be credited with more insight into the design of
a suit capable of being mass produced for protection
against future toxic environments. |
|
The theme of ‘warfare’
can be avoided as suits could be used against the
effects of pollution, large scale industrial accidents
or even worsening effects of global warming. |
